1. Data the extension stores

Minimal New Tab may store the following user-provided data:

• saved website URLs;
• custom site titles;
• folders and folder names;
• order of sites and folders;
• selected folder;
• theme settings;
• colors and layout preferences;
• import/export backup data when manually created by the user;
• a custom background image selected by the user.

2. Where the data is stored

Minimal New Tab uses Chrome storage to save your settings.

Lightweight settings, such as saved sites, folders, order, selected folder, colors, and theme preferences, may be stored in Chrome’s local or sync storage.

If Chrome Sync is enabled in your browser, some lightweight settings may be synchronized by Chrome across your signed-in Chrome browsers. This synchronization is handled by Chrome, not by the developer.

Custom background images are stored only locally on the current device and are not synced by the extension.

3. Data collection by the developer

The developer does not collect, receive, transmit, sell, rent, or share your personal data.

Minimal New Tab does not have a backend server, user accounts, OAuth login, analytics, advertising, tracking, or telemetry.

Your saved sites, folders, settings, and background images are not sent to the developer.

4. Favicons

Minimal New Tab uses website icons to display icons for your saved sites.

The extension uses Chrome’s favicon API when available. If a favicon is not available through Chrome, the extension may request a favicon image from Google’s favicon service using the saved site’s hostname.

This is used only to display website icons in the extension interface. Favicon images are not stored as user data by the extension.

5. Import and export

Minimal New Tab includes an import/export feature.

Export happens only when you manually choose to export your settings. The exported JSON file is saved by your browser to your device.

Import happens only when you manually choose a backup file to import.

The developer does not receive exported or imported files.

6. Data deletion

You can delete saved sites, folders, and settings inside the extension.

You can also remove all extension data by uninstalling the extension from Chrome.

7. Remote code

Minimal New Tab does not execute remote code.

All JavaScript, HTML, and CSS used by the extension are packaged inside the extension ZIP file. The extension may load favicon images, but it does not load or execute remote scripts.

8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Minimal New Tab’s use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The extension uses Chrome APIs only to provide its single purpose: a customizable new tab page for organizing favorite websites in folders.
